Performance Specs, EV Range/Fuel Economy and Connectivity
Toyota didn’t need complete reinvent the wheel when it came to picking out a power plant for the 2021 RAV4 Prime. A naturally aspirated 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine will be under the hood – just like the traditional RAV4 version. That engine will be attached to a continuously variable transmission. However, unlike the traditional RAV4 version, the 2021 RAV4 Prime will also get a portion of its performance from a series of permanent magnet synchronous motors that are powered by a high-capacity Lithium-Ion battery pack. When the entire propulsion system is working together, the 2021 RAV4 Prime will produce 302 net horsepower. This makes the 2021 RAV4 Prime the most powerful iteration of the popular crossover SUV ever built.
When the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime is using the gasoline-powered engine to drive, it will be able to record 40 miles per gallon in the city and 36 miles per gallon on the highway. When the hybrid system is engaged, it will record the electric equivalent of 94 mpg. Also, 2021 RAV4 Prime owners will be able to travel an estimated 42 miles on EV mode, which only uses the power stored in its onboard battery pack.
An 8- or 9-inch touchscreen will be available in the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime, depending on which trim grade a buyer takes home. All models will be equipped with a smartphone-compatible infotainment system that will be compatible with both the Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ suites of applications as well as the Amazon Alexa digital home assistant. Toyota is also continuing to offer its 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot with the 2021 RAV4 Prime.
