What is new for the 2021 Toyota Prius?
The year 2000 marked the beginning of a lot of new technology. Within the Toyota inventory, that means the Prius and its game-changing hybrid technology. To mark the second decade of production for this influential vehicle, the automaker is introducing the Prius 2020 Edition for the 2021 model year. That is only the beginning of what is new for the 2021 Toyota Prius. There will only be 2,020 of the special edition models produced that will feature a pair of exterior colors and exclusive badging. New Technology Added
Toyota has always generously equipped the Prius with its most advanced safety technology available. For the 2021 model year, the new Prius will offer Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 which will include several impressive systems like:
• Pre-Collision System with Low-Light Pedestrian Detection
• Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
• Bicyclist Detection
• Lane Departure Alert
• Automatic High Beams
• Road Sign Assist
Device integration has also been a very important point of pride for Toyota and its latest version of its vehicles. Apple CarPlay® has been available with the Prius for the last couple of model years. The 2021 Toyota Prius will now add Android Auto™ to all trims, except for the Limited. Most trim grades will also be able to work with the Amazon Alexa digital home assistant. The XLE model adds several comfort and convenience features like a heated steering wheel, three-door Smart Key system with keyless ignition and a wireless smartphone charging tray.
Fuel Economy and Fuel Economy Estimates
According to the early information released by the automaker about the 2021 Toyota Prius, it will be able to record an estimated 54 miles per gallon in the city and 50 miles per gallon on the highway. Additionally, models of the 2021 Prius with front-wheel-drive will be able to offer up 50.7 cubic-feet of cargo volume when the rear seats are folded down.
